27/01/2023 Day 27

Memorial of St Angela Merici – Virgin
Antiphons on p. 1961 and Readings on p. 1555 and of the Daily Missal.

First Reading: 1 Peter 4 7b-11

A reading from the first Letter of Saint Peter.

Brothers and sisters:

Keep sane and sober for your prayers.
Above all hold unfailing your love for one another,
since love covers a multitude of sins.
Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another.
As each has received a gift,
employ it for one another,
as good stewards of God’s varied grace:
whoever speaks, as one who utters oracles of God;
whoever renders service,
as one who renders it by the strength which God supplies;
in order that in everything
God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
To him belong glory and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 148: 1-2, 11-13a, 13c-14 (R. 39a)

Let us now pray the Responsorial Psalm:

R/. Young men and maidens together, praise the name of the Lord.

Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights.
Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his hosts.

Kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all judges of the earth,
young men and maidens as well,
the old together with the young.
Let them praise the name of the Lord.

His splendour is above heaven and earth.
He exalts the strength of his people.
He is the praise of all his faithful,
the praise of the children of Israel,
of the people to whom he is close.

R/. Young men and maidens together, praise the name of the Lord.

Alleluia, Alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom.
Alleluia.

Gospel: Mark 9: 34-37

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark.

At that time:
On the way
the disciples of Jesus had discussed with one another
who was the greatest.
And he sat down and called the twelve;
and he said to them,
“If any one would be first,
he must be last of all and servant of all.”
And he took a child,
and put him in the midst of them;
and taking him in his arms,
he said to them,
“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me;
and whoever receives me,
receives not me but him who sent me.”

The Gospel of the Lord.
