The Catholic Women’s League was started in the Bryanston Parish in 1992 and falls under the Diocesan Council of CWL which was started in Johannesburg in 1932.
Our motto is Charity, Work and Loyalty and that very much encompasses what we stand for. Our aim is to unite women in their service to God, the Church and the Family.
We are always ready to assist with parish work as needed under the guidance of the parish priest.
We support each other in good times and in bad. We have monthly home rosaries and an annual morning of recollection and a novena. Lovely friendships are formed amongst the members.
In our own parish we serve tea after the 10am Mass each Sunday, as well as cater for funeral teas which gives a great service to the bereaved family. We also serve tea and special treats to the First Holy Communion candidates and their families.
We hold regular book sales and an annual raffle for Mother’s Day. Nearer the end of the year we sell advent candles and wreaths to make the family time of advent more meaningful and give a party to the elderly from various old age homes.
As we are a part of the Johannesburg Regional Council which falls under the diocesan council we support all the CWL projects and for which we raise much needed funds. These are:
